Baseball Recap: Viera Find Success

It's playoff time, and Viera had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Melbourne Bulldogs 4-3. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Viera got a great performance from Caden Jensen as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. That's the most strikeouts Jensen has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zak Al-Arashi, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Vogel, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Viera's victory bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Melbourne, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-8 record.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Viera will be playing at home against Dwyer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Melbourne, they are taking a road trip to take on Lake Minneola at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.8, the Hawks 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
