Basketball Game Preview: GVCS Broadfording Lions vs. Southern Rams

GVCS Broadfording hasn't had much luck against Southern recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The GVCS Broadfording Lions will face off against the Southern Rams at 7:30 p.m. GVCS Broadfording will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, GVCS Broadfording didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Morgantown Christian Academy, but they still walked away with a 43-37 win.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead GVCS Broadfording to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fernando Garcia, who posted 14 points and seven steals. Garcia is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Brandon Monroe was another key player, putting up ten points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Southern fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Mountain Ridge on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Miners by a score of 67-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rams have suffered since December 12, 2023.

Southern's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for GVCS Broadfording, their victory bumped their record up to 17-7.

GVCS Broadfording came up short against Southern in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 66-59. Thankfully for GVCS Broadfording, Isaiah Keller (who went 7-for-10 en route to 21 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
