Hazleton Area lost to Wilkes-Barre  back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Wolfpack  11-10. With that  win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2  runs per game.
 Kayla Lagowy was  incredible,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.  Emme Zanolini also deserves some recognition as  she  brought in her first  RBI of the season.
 Lagowy wasn't the only one making solid contact: Hazleton Area  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least nine  hits in four consecutive  games.
Hazleton Area pushed their record up to 5-1 with the  victory, which was their fifth straight  at home dating back to last season. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Wilkes-Barre, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record  this season.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hazleton Area will venture away from home to  take on Liberty  at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Wilkes-Barre, they will head out to  challenge Dallas  at 4:15  p.m.  on  the 24th.
