Baseball Recap: Chugiak Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Eagle River

Chugiak faced Eagle River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Mustangs took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. Surprisingly, this marked the Mustangs' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Chugiak saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caiden Capozzi, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Capozzi has hit this season.

Chugiak has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Eagle River, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2-1.

Coincidentally, Chugiak and Eagle River will both be playing West Anchorage the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wolves will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
