Basketball Game Preview: Miramar Patriots vs. Reagan Bison

Two dominant guards in Joshua Skinner and Sebastian Gonzalez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Miramar Patriots will be home for the holidays to greet the Reagan Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Miramar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Miramar beat Dillard 52-42. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while the Panthers are ranked 426th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Miramar can attribute much of their success to Skinner, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards, and Martell Smith, who posted 11 points. Maurice Tenner was another key player, putting up six points.

Miramar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Reagan had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Ascenders 63-36. The Bison have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Reagan's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Miramar, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
