Basketball Game Preview: KIPP P Pride vs. Wilson Prep Tigers

KIPP P hasn't had much luck against Wilson Prep recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The KIPP P Pride will host the Wilson Prep Tigers at 5:30 p.m.

KIPP P is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 31st straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They were beaten by Southeast Halifax 52-12. The Pride were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-4.

Meanwhile, Wilson Prep had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They breezed by the Jaguars to the tune of 76-29. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 25 points or more this season.

Wilson Prep found their leader in freshman Paris Best, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists. Best's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Brown, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points.

Wilson Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Wilson Prep pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for KIPP P, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.
