Soccer Game Preview: Marion vs. Peru

The Marion Giants will venture away from home to take on the Peru Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Marion will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Marion's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Blackford with a sharp 3-0 win. Marion's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.

Jayme Hardwick and Raven Sollars scored all three of Marion's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 38 goals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Peru was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They lost 4-1 to Mississinewa. Peru haven't had much luck with Mississinewa recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Marion's victory bumped their record up to 8-5-1. As for Peru, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Everything went Marion's way against Peru when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Marion made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Giants since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
