Volleyball Recap: Westfield Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Lincoln-Way East

Westfield is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Lincoln-Way East. The Shamrocks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins. The Shamrocks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grayson Baker paced Westfield's offense, picking up five kills. Baker were helped by Evan Huhn and Aidyn Kuzma, who contributed five assists each. Baker was also a major player on defense: he and he shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Lincoln-Way East, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Westfield and Lincoln-Way East are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Shamrocks will take on Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lincoln-Way East, they will challenge Homewood-Flossmoor at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
