Basketball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

Riverdale was the 76-64 winner over Orion when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Riverdale Rams took a blow against the Orion Chargers on Friday, falling 71-42. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Orion's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddux Arnold, who went 7 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points. The dominant performance gave Arnold a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jake Bainbridge, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Riverdale moved to 13-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Orion, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Riverdale has already played their next match, a 54-37 victory against Fulton on the 18th. As for Orion, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-33 win against Knoxville on the 22nd.
