Football Recap: Nixon Mustangs vs. Cigarroa Toros

Nixon was handed a 37-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Cigarroa on Friday. The Nixon Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cigarroa Toros , sneaking past 12-10. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2023.

Mauricio Lugo threw for 209 yards while completing 75% of his passes. Franko Cruz was his top target, rushing for 101 yards on only ten carries, while also picking up 85 receiving yards. On the ground, Emiliano Hernandez rushed for 114 yards, and also picked up 46 receiving yards.

When it comes to explaining why Cigarroa lost, don't look at Armando Mata. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards on only 14 carries, and also threw for 14 yards and a touchdown. Mata got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 57 yards.
