Basketball Recap: Jamal Carnley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Poplar Springs over Holmes County

Poplar Springs lost against Holmes County back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Poplar Springs Atomics fell just short of the Holmes County Blue Devils by a score of 40-38. The game marked the Atomics' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Poplar Springs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamal Carnley, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 11 points in addition to six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Baron Hall, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.

Poplar Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Holmes County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Poplar Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-43 loss against Ponce De Leon on the 13th. As for Holmes County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-48 defeat against Blountstown on the 10th.
