Baseball Game Preview: Christian Patriots vs. Madison Warhawks

For the second straight game, Christian will face off against Madison. The Patriots will square off against the Warhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Christian has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 21.

Madison hit Christian with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots fell 7-2 to the Warhawks.

Logan Major put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Christian is 5-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-12 otherwise. Major was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Major wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joey Nunez, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Madison and bumps their season record up to 21-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.

Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. The Patriots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game.
