Football Recap: Ezekial Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Damonte Ranch over Reed

If Damonte Ranch was feeling good fresh off their 33-6 takedown of Galena last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs fell 27-20 to the Reed Raiders on Friday. The Mustangs gained 125 more yards on the day, but it was the Raiders that made the best use of them.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ezekial Smith, who rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Smith's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Another receiver making a difference was Amari Nash, who picked up 128 receiving yards and one TD.

Damonte Ranch has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Reed, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Damonte Ranch wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 59-14 defeat against Bishop Manogue on the 30th. As for Reed, they have also already played their next matchup, a 49-28 victory against Douglas on the 30th.
