Softball Game Preview: Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings vs. Marquette Defenders

The Edgewood-Colesburg Vikings will head out to square off against the Marquette Defenders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Edgewood-Colesburg's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Marquette's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Edgewood-Colesburg came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-2 to Kee. That makes it the first time this season the Vikings have let down their home crowd.

Meanwhile, Marquette waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the River Kings.

Edgewood-Colesburg's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Marquette, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Edgewood-Colesburg skirted past Marquette 2-1 in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
