There's no place like home for Sarasota, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the North Port Bobcats on Friday as the Sarasota Sailors made off with an 8-2 win. Considering the Sailors have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cesar Garmendia tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mark Metcalf, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Nelson Dominguez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Sarasota now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for North Port, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Sarasota and North Port's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Sarasota and Port Charlotte (who has only given up 1.4 runs per game) will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sarasota's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so North Port's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Similarly, North Port will square off against Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a team that's only allowed 2.2 runs per game.
