Football Recap: Centennial Titans vs. Independence Knights

Centennial had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 13-9 victory over the Independence Knights. For the Titans, this counts as revenge for the 44-24 defeat the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2021.

Among those leading the charge was Adam Schmid, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 187 yards on 12 of 26 attempts.

Centennial wouldn't let Independence keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. Jackson Graham led the group effort, picking up two of those forced fumbles all by himself. Bingham Buckley's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making five total tackles. Another thorn in Independence's side was Jackson Hand, who picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mckenzie West, who picked up 147 receiving yards and a touchdown. Logan Murindagomo was another key player, throwing for 185 yards and a touchdown.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Independence, they will welcome Lebanon Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Independence is looking for their season?s first win.
