Basketball Recap: Hernando Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matchups, Hernando finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They were beaten by the Lecanto Panthers 79-29. The game marked the Leopards' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Hernando still got an impressive performance from Sam Jackson, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hernando smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for JT Tipton, who went 10 of 20 en route to 24 points in addition to eight boards and five assists for Lecanto. Tipton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Josh Patrick was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

With the loss, Hernando broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-6. As for Lecanto, their record is now 17-2.

Hernando has already played their next game, a 64-49 win against Hudson on the 22nd. As for Lecanto, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 89-49 victory against River Ridge on the 22nd.
