Softball Recap: Green Valley Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Arbor View

Green Valley faced Arbor View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Gators fell just short of the Aggies by a score of 5-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gators of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Liliana Esparza was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Lyla Baxter was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Green Valley and nudges their season record down to 12-9. As for Arbor View, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.

Coming up, Green Valley will square off against Faith Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.08 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Arbor View, they will challenge Duarte at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Aggies surely won't give up without a fight.
