Basketball Game Preview: Waverly Warriors vs. Grand Ledge Comets

Waverly hasn't had much luck against Grand Ledge recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Waverly Warriors will take on the Grand Ledge Comets at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Thursday, Waverly didn't have quite enough to beat East Lansing and fell 44-42. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Trojans are ranked 103rd).

Meanwhile, Grand Ledge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Okemos.

Grand Ledge's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Waverly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

Waverly came up short against Grand Ledge when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 55-48. Can Waverly avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
