Football Recap: KIPP Collegiate Piles Up the Points Against Manassas

KIPP Collegiate's game two weeks ago was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Manassas Tigers 44-6. The phoenix have beaten the Tigers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.

Kevin Garnett had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 74 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: KIPP Collegiate was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to KIPP Collegiate's defense and their three sacks. Nylon Matlock was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

KIPP Collegiate now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Manassas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. KIPP Collegiate will square off against Middle College at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manassas, they will face off against Overton at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th.
