Baseball Game Preview: Switzerland County Pacers vs. South Ripley Raiders

The Switzerland County Pacers will take on the South Ripley Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Switzerland County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Switzerland County will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Milan, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pacers put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 7-1 victory on Wednesday. The Pacers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 11, 2024.

Zayne Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Smith wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Byrd, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Cooper Todd was another, scoring a run and stealing a base.

Meanwhile, South Ripley didn't have quite enough to beat Oldenburg Academy on Tuesday and fell 5-3.

Trenton Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

South Ripley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Switzerland County, their record is now 3-0.
