Football Recap: Nicholas County Takes a Loss

Nicholas County was the 20-7 winner over Chapmanville Regional when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Grizzlies fell 24-12 to the Tigers on Friday. While the Grizzlies had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Tigers 12-0.

Chapmanville Regional got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Trey Ward out in front who picked up 93 receiving yards and two TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Dalton, who threw for 136 yards and one touchdown.

Nicholas County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Chapmanville Regional, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Nicholas County is taking a road trip to challenge Shady Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chapmanville Regional, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Midland Trail at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th.
