Softball Recap: Rincon/University Comes Up Short

Rincon/University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Cibola Raiders, falling 18-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rangers of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2017.

Sophia Castillo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. Erika Prieto also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Rincon/University's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Cibola, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-10.

Coming up, Rincon/University will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Marana at 3:45 p.m. As for Cibola, they will welcome Desert Vista at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Cibola's pitchers better be ready for this one: Desert Vista has averaged an impressive 13.7 runs per game this season.
