Baseball Game Preview: Summer Creek Bulldogs vs. Pearland Oilers

For the second straight game, Summer Creek will face off against Pearland. The Bulldogs will face off against the Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Summer Creek 3.4, Pearland 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Summer Creek heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They lost 7-0 to Pearland. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

For Pearland's part, Grant Shepherd tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Shepherd has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Nicholas Partida was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

The victory (which was Pearland's sixth in a row) raised their record to 24-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Summer Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 21-9-1.
