Softball Recap: Mount View Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

Mount View was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Phelps on Thursday. The Golden Knights blew past the Hornets 15-7. The Golden Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Phoebe Dudgeon made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Kayleigh Rose was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Shianne Belcher, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Mount View pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for Phelps, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Looking ahead, Mount View will take on River View at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Phelps, they will square off against Magoffin County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
