Basketball Game Preview: Breckenridge Buckaroos vs. Dublin Lions

Breckenridge is 10-0 against Dublin since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Breckenridge Buckaroos will face off against the Dublin Lions at 6:15 p.m. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses apiece.

Breckenridge is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Early on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Breckenridge lost 64-43 to Early. While losing is never fun, the Buckaroos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1199th, while the Longhorns are ranked 454th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Karsyn Smalley, who posted 17 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Ruthie Valdez was another key player, putting up eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Dublin was beaten by Comanche 91-36 on Friday.

Breckenridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-27. As for Dublin, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-19.

Breckenridge didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Dublin in their previous matchup on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Breckenridge since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
