A strong case can be made for any of "The Big Five" in the Class of 2013 – Aaron and Andrew Harrison, Julius Randle, Aaron Gordon and Jabari Parker – to lay claim to the No. 1 ranking.

The matter has been debated in gym bleachers and via Twitter all summer long and is really just heating up as the quintet enters their senior year.

The two at the top of the list will represent one of the biggest package deals in recent recruiting memory when they announce their collegiate decision sometime before Oct. 28 (their birthday). The Harrison boys of Fort Bend Travis (Richmond, Texas) and Houston Defenders club team are the undisputed top backcourt talents in the class with Andrew manning the point position and Aaron strengthening his reputation as one of the country's most lethal scorers at the 2-guard spot.

"They are two totally different people," said Aaron Harrison Sr., the twins' father and coach with the Houston Defenders. "One is a point guard, the other is a shooting guard. Everybody wants to compare them to one another, but they should be compared to everybody else."

According to Aaron Harrison Sr., Baylor, Kentucky, Maryland, SMU and Villanova are the final five schools in contention for his sons' services.

Aaron and Andrew are generally on the same page, according to Aaron Sr., so finding common ground in regard to their collegiate destination shouldn't be a problem.

"The only things they get into it over is winning," Aaron Sr., said.

Randle, a 6-foot-8 power forward with Prestonwood Christian (Plano) and the Texas Titans, helped the Lone Star State sweep the top three spots in the updated rankings. Randle was a consistent force throughout the summer months, averaging over 17 points and 10 boards per game in Nike EYBL play.

Versatile forwards Gordon and Parker both missed significant portions of the summer with injuries. Parker, in particular, was unable to put his best foot forward as he battled a nagging foot injury that eventually caused him to shut it down in July.

A year ago at this time in the Class of 2012, 42 of the Top 100 players in the country had already delivered verbal commitments. At press time, 34 members of the Class of 2013 Top 100 have made pledges and just seven of the top 25. Expect the action to pick up with the nation's elite prospects in the coming weeks and months leading up to November's early signing period.
