Basketball Recap: Harlan Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Harlan was riding high fresh off their 57-37 takedown of Tournament Opponent on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks fell 50-40 to the Veterans Memorial Patriots on Friday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Despite the loss, Harlan had strong showings from London Jackson, who posted 16 points, and Amoni Francis, who had ten points. That was a full 40% of the Hawks' points, marking the third time in a row Jackson has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Leading Veterans Memorial to victory were Charles Ford and Jamichael Moore. Ford went 5-for-8 to rack up 14 points, while Moore earned nine points and eight rebounds. Dj Jordan was another key player, putting up three points and five assists.

Harlan's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-4. As for Veterans Memorial, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Harlan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-57 loss against McKinney Boyd on the 5th. As for Veterans Memorial, they have also already played their next game, an 83-67 victory against East Central on the 5th.
