Basketball Game Preview: Wilson Tigers vs. Hartsville Red Foxes

The Wilson Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Hartsville Red Foxes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hartsville will be up against a hot Wilson team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Wilson claimed a resounding 68-38 win over South Florence. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wilson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josh Leonard, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. That's the most boards Leonard has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tristan Thompson, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Hartsville came up short against South Florence on Saturday and fell 72-61. The Red Foxes haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Wilson pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Hartsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Wilson strolled past Hartsville in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 71-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wilson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
