Baseball Recap: Eugene's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Eugene waltzed into their match on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Sturgeon Bulldogs a 13-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jeffrey Schulte made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schulte was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Drew Hart and Sam Schulte did most of the damage at the plate: Hart went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Sam went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Schulte has posted since back in April. Garet Wood was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Eugene's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Sturgeon, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

As of now, neither Eugene nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
