Baseball Recap: South-Doyle Takes a Loss

Saturday just wasn't the day for South-Doyle's offense. They fell just short of the Halls Red Devils by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. The Cherokees were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Devils earlier this season, when they won 12-0.

South-Doyle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Underwood, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

South-Doyle has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13-1 record this season. As for Halls, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South-Doyle will square off against Sevier County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Halls, they will be playing at home against Campbell County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.83 runs per game on average), something the Red Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
