Soccer Game Preview: Benedictine vs. Veritas School

The Benedictine Cadets will take on the Veritas School Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Benedictine is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Collegiate, who was ranked fifth at the time (Benedictine was ranked eighth). The Cadets came up short against the Cougars on Thursday, falling 4-1. Benedictine have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Their goal came courtesy of Gavin Team, who's now up to six this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Veritas School, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand North Cross a 2-0 shutout on Friday.

Veritas School's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those six matchups. As for Benedictine, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3-1.

Benedictine took their win against Veritas School in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0 score. Will the Cadets repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
