Softball Game Preview: Peoria Notre Dame Irish vs. Urbana Tigers

Peoria Notre Dame is 8-1 against Urbana since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Irish will face off against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. Urbana took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Peoria Notre Dame, who comes in off a win.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Peoria Notre Dame and Morton, and Peoria Notre Dame kept the tradition alive. The Irish blew past the Potters 10-4 on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Irish considering their one-run performance the match before.

Peoria Notre Dame let Gracie Anderson and Ella Tady run wild. Anderson went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs, while Tady went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three doubles gave Anderson a new career-high. Addie Rezac was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Peoria Notre Dame kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Urbana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richwoods. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The victory got Peoria Notre Dame back to even at 10-10. As for Urbana, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
