Basketball Recap: Page County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Luray

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Page County). They walked away with a 73-65 victory over the Luray Bulldogs on Wednesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 103rd).

Despite the loss, Luray still got an impressive performance from Connor Hilliard, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Owens, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Page County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Luray, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Page County will face off against Madison County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Luray has already played their next contest (against George Wythe), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
