Nixon-Smiley hadn't done well against Karnes City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs walked away with a 3-1 win over the Badgers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 back in August.

Nixon-Smiley got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. The final score came out to 30-28, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23.

The victory made it two in a row for Nixon-Smiley and bumps their season record up to 11-15. As for Karnes City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-18 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Nixon-Smiley will challenge rival Poth at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Karnes City is set to square off against their familiar foe Stockdale at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
