Baseball Recap: Massac County Patriots vs. Carterville Lions

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Murphysboro, Massac County was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Carterville Lions by a score of 8-4. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Zach Maurer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
