Basketball Recap: Park Crossing Find Success

Park Crossing lost to Selma last Friday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Park Crossing Thunderbirds escaped with a win against the Selma Saints by the margin of a single free throw, 39-38. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Thunderbirds' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Saints are ranked 39th).

Selma's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tristin Blocton, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was LaDarian Brown, who posted seven points in addition to 14 rebounds and three blocks.

Park Crossing pushed their record up to 8-15 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Selma, with the loss, they broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-2.

Park Crossing does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Selma, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Demopolis at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
