Softball Game Preview: Service Cougars vs. Dimond Lynx

Service hasn't had much luck against Dimond recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cougars will welcome the Lynx at 5:45 p.m. Service has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Service is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bartlett, who was ranked fifth at the time (Service was ranked 15th). The Cougars came up short against the Golden Bears on Monday, falling 15-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

Service saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was McKinley Fuller, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Dimond hadn't done well against Bettye Davis East Anchorage recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Lynx blew past the Thunderbirds 27-6. The Lynx not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6th (when they won 27-2).

Dimond's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Service, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7-1.

Service couldn't quite get it done against Dimond in their previous meeting on Friday as they fell 12-8. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
