Volleyball Recap: Penns Valley Area Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Penns Valley Area proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Bellefonte Raiders 3-2. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Penns Valley Area was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 21-25, 22-25, 25-17, 15-11.

Despite the loss, Bellefonte saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sloan Moore had 21 digs and one assist. Those 21 digs set a new season-high mark for Moore. Delaney Gray also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Penns Valley Area's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1. As for Bellefonte, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Penns Valley Area will square off against Bishop McCort at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bellefonte, they will head out to take on Somerset at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
