Softball Recap: Grosse Pointe North Takes a Loss

Grosse Pointe North extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-8 in the process. They came up short against the Algonac Muskrats, falling 12-1. The Norsemen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Muskrats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Algonac, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

For Algonac's part, Jaycee Reams was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Reams was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Algonac got a massive performance out of Michael Kenel, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Grace, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grosse Pointe North will welcome Chippewa Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Algonac, they will host Armada at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
