Volleyball Game Preview: Hudson Explorers vs. St. Edward Eagles

The Hudson Explorers will square off against the St. Edward Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Hudson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: Medina, who was ranked 15th at the time (Hudson was ranked 20th). The Explorers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Bees on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Explorers in their matchups with the Bees: they've now won seven in a row.

Hudson got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 30-28, 25-11.

Meanwhile, St. Edward got the win against Brecksville-Broadview Heights on Monday by a conclusive 3-0.

While St. Edward won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 25-13.

Hudson better keep an eye on Davion Tan-Nguyen. He was instrumental in St. Edward's win, getting 15 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Tan-Nguyen has posted since back in May of 2025.

Hudson's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for St. Edward, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Hudson skirted past St. Edward 3-2 in their previous meeting back in March. Do the Explorers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
