Hudson had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Aplington-Parkersburg on Monday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 15-7 margin over the Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Hudson pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Aplington-Parkersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hudson beat the Falcons by a score of 21-5 later that day.
