Baseball Recap: Central Drops Highest Score of Season Against Aletheia Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). They were the clear victor by an 18-8 margin over the Aletheia Christian Academy Lions on Friday. Considering the Jaguars have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Garrett Gandy and Brock Reeves made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Gandy didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Reeves tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Gandy scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Reeves scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Gandy a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brock Schmidt was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Carson Baxley, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aletheia Christian Academy only managed six hits.

Central's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Aletheia Christian Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-8 victory against Baker on the 14th. As for Aletheia Christian Academy, they will take on Notre Dame at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
