Basketball Game Preview: Cairo Pilots vs. Mayfield Cardinals

The Cairo Pilots will head out to challenge the Mayfield Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Thursday, Cairo came up short against Ballard Memorial and fell 39-31.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mayfield faced off against Dawson Springs on Tuesday. Mayfield simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dawson Springs 48-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Cairo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Mayfield, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-0.

Cairo and Mayfield were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but Cairo came up empty-handed after a 47-46 loss. Can Cairo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
