It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Archbishop Riordan had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They breezed past the Salinas Cowboys to the tune of 42-9. Considering the Crusaders have won eight contests by more than 21 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Michael Mitchell Jr., who threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes. Those 385 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Adonyae Brown also helped with two TDs in total.

Archbishop Riordan's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 8.5 times. Leading the way was Dj Sanchez with 5.5 sacks.

Archbishop Riordan pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.8 points on average over those games. As for Salinas, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record.

Coming up, Archbishop Riordan will challenge Junipero Serra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Salinas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
