Basketball Recap: West Oso Skates Past Zapata with Ease

A well-balanced attack led West Oso over Zapata in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the West Oso Bears blew the Zapata Hawks out of the water with a 57-12 final score. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 21 points or more this season.

West Oso's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jae'La Hicks, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. That's the most blocks Hicks has posted since back in November. The team also got some help courtesy of Milauni Williams, who posted nine points and six boards.

West Oso smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 26 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

West Oso is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.1 points per game. As for Zapata, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.
