Baseball Recap: Addison Trail Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Addison Trail, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blazers have posted since April 25, 2024.

Addison Trail got a great performance from Jordan Ciezobka as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Ciezobka has become a key player for the Blazers: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Matt Garcia was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Louie Franczak was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Addison Trail's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Addison Trail will have a chance to go back-to-back against Berwyn/Cicero Morton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
