Basketball Recap: Mission Oak Takes a Loss

Mission Oak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Tulare Union The Tribe, falling 97-75. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 838th, while the The Tribe are ranked 229th).

When it comes to explaining why Mission Oak lost, don't look at Joaquin Torrez. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 20 on his way to 28 points and five rebounds. What's more, Torrez also posted a 83% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in January of 2024. Malakai Rodriguez was another key player, going 7 for 14 to rack up 19 points.

Tulare Union's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brayden Stevenson, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Keanu Kennedy, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards.

Mission Oak's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Tulare Union, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-5.

Mission Oak wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 82-59 defeat against Hanford on the 6th. As for Tulare Union, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-44 victory against Dinuba on the 6th.
