Baseball Recap: Cass City Beats Caro for Their Third Straight Victory

Cass City waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Caro Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Red Hawks: when they faced off against the Tigers on May 1st, they had to take a 7-6 defeat.

Carson Anthes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cass City is 11-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Franzel, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Matt Mellendorf, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Cass City's victory bumped their record up to 18-10. As for Caro, their loss dropped their record down to 20-16-1.

As of now, neither Cass City nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
