Baseball Recap: Twin Valley Comes Up Short

Twin Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Rivendell Academy on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Rivendell Academy by a score of 8-6. The Wildcats have struggled against Rivendell Academy recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Halen Ranslow put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Twin Valley is 2-1 when Ranslow posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Seth Wrathall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. Colton Corey was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Twin Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Rivendell Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Twin Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Mt. St. Joseph Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Rivendell Academy will face off against rival Poultney at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
